Who we are
As you can see from our photos on the home page, Christ Church is a faith family that includes old and young, black and white, wealthy and struggling, retired and working, families and single adults, gay and straight. We are a Beloved Community.
We have members who have attended for decades and can trace their lineage back to Colonial days. We also have younger families with children who fill our Sunday school classrooms.
Even though our heritage dates to 1703 and a signer of the Declaration of the Independence served on our vestry, Christ Church today is a diverse congregation where all are welcome.
We try not to act our age!
Dr. Martin Luther King’s Beloved Community is a global vision, in which all people can share in the wealth of the earth. In the Beloved Community, poverty, hunger and homelessness will not be tolerated because international standards of human decency will not allow it. Racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be replaced by an all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood . . . Love and trust will triumph over fear and hatred. Peace with justice will prevail over war and military conflict.
